Totally. Just make sure they have a copy of your ID – printed or a picture on your phone. Sometimes you just gotta help a sister out.
Yes. You can defer your registration until July 12. We offer this free of charge – you just gotta let us know in time so that we can get the information over to our timer. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your first and last name n the email. When you defer, you will need to sign up for the 2020 run with a coupon code we send you, we will then cancel your 2019 registration. The date for next year may change, there are no refunds if the date does not work for you next year.
Of course! Changes to your registration can be made until online up to 10 days before the race. If you can’t make up your mind by then, no worries – we can change your registration for you at packet pick-up. Just stop by the Information Booth & make sure you start at the correct start time.
Packet pick up will be Saturday, July 20th, 11am-4pm at the Springhill Suites by Marriott located at 4601 Frey St. Madison, WI 53705. The Expo is 2 blocks from the start of the marathon. There is no Sunday packet pick up unless you have pre-paid for the service.
Sunday, July 21:
7:00 am – Half Marathon & Relay
7:05 am – 5K Run & Walk
No. Strollers are not allowed.
It’s just a hill, get over it! Hills make us stronger. You WILL be able to do this! The 5K is a slightly rolling course, but great for beginners. Wide streets, lots of shade, and through a cool neighborhood. The half marathon has 2 fairly tough hills but tons of flat and scenic course too.
No. We love dogs and they are amazing training partners, but leave them safely at home – away from the loud noises, the crowds, & out of the heat. But tell them all about your race time splits when you get home – they are the best listeners!
Only the prettiest, most sparkly, most awesome finisher medal out there! All finishers of the half marathon & 5K will receive a finisher medal. Yes, ALL of you. Also, be sure to notice that the 5K medals are the same as the Half Marathon medals. That’s on purpose. Why? Because to some runners a 5K is just as big of deal as a Half Marathon. They get to celebrate just as much with a medal that’s just as awesome.
Awards will be given to the top 10 overall female finishers of the half marathon distance & 5K distance. Awards are free registration into one of our upcoming events or tickets to one of our future festivals.
There is a 5K walk for anyone wanting to walk. The Half Marathon course is open for 4 hours, if you can walk 13.1 miles in that time, go on and walk it.
The Her Madison Half Marathon & 5K is proud to support Run Strong Madison as our official race charity partner.
Banditting is not allowed. You put all the other athletes at risk and the person you give your bib to. The emergency personnel work very hard to keep you safe. You can send us a deferral request to email@example.com
Think of this as an investment. An investment in yourself – the training, the gear, the preparation. Even if you can’t show up on race day – you’ve already made those investments, and so have we. Unfortunately, even if YOU can’t make it, we still have to pay for the barricades, the police staff, EMT’s, shirts, medals, advertising, insurance, all the goodies….all costs that we can’t return.
Our race is open and dedicated to all individuals that identify as female. We do not offer men’s awards.
We would LOVE to have men volunteer at our event! Or, you can have your guy cheering somewhere on the course! To volunteer, go to https://www.hermadisonrun.com/volunteer/ and sign up.
Our race is capped at 1,000 participants. We want the course to be safe and enjoyable for everyone.
Online registration will close on Wednesday, July 17 at 6:00am.
On-site registration will be available during packet pick up on Saturday only, from 11am-5pm. There is no Sunday registration.
Nope, sorry. We want to spend as much time with you as possible, so we’re asking that you come see us on Saturday. Plus, we want to make sure that race morning is as stress-free as possible. Nobody likes getting stuff last minute, so it’s just best for everyone to do packet pick-up the day before. There are a handful of ladies who have paid to pick up their packets on race day, they are the only ones who may do so.
The race will go on rain or shine. However, if there is inclement weather in the area, Her Madison Half Marathon & 5K implements the 30/30 rule. If we hear thunder within 30 seconds after lightning, then the race will be delayed 30 minutes. Due to our agreement with the local municipalities, the course cut-off will need to remain the same at 11:00am.
We request that athletes are at least 8 years old to participate. Any participant under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the participant wavier.
The half marathon course will officially close at 11am. This gives 4 hours for the half marathon run.
The 5K course will close at 8:30am.
If you are not going to finish within that time limit, you are absolutely welcome to finish the race, but just know that it will not be supported. You may be asked to move to the sidewalk.
There is 1 aid station on the 5K course at mile 2.3 (there is no place closer to place it), in addition to the finish line.
There are 9 aid stations (4 aid stations that overlap each other because the course passes them in two directions) on the half marathon course. The aid stations can be found at Mile 2.4, Mile 4.2, Mile 5.4, Mile 6.8, Mile 7.5, Mile 9.3, Mile 10.7, Mile 11.9, Mile 12.3 and the Finish.
Water & Sports Drink at all aid stations and carbs at some aid stations. Plus cheers from the most beautiful, amazing volunteers.
Yes! We have Ryan Brothers Ambulance at the finish line. There are 2 City Of Madison EMT teams on bicycles that will be roaming the course. We also have several City of Madison, UW, and Village of Shorewood Hills police stationed at key intersections. All of our aid stations will be equipped with basic first aid kits. If you need immediate medical attention, alert the nearest volunteer and they will call for help.
The 5K does not have bathrooms because of the short distance but there are bathrooms at the start and finish. The half marathon course has bathrooms at Mile 4.8, Mile 6.8, Mile 9.3, Mile 11.3 and at the start and finish.
Yes. You can run with headphones, but you are responsible for knowing the course and being able to listen to volunteers. We also have the course on the Ride With GPS App that you can download and listen to audible turn-by-turn directions for the entire half marathon course.
Yes. You can run with your phone, but you are responsible for knowing the course and being able to listen to volunteers.
